If your current lender is not giving you the market rate and is charging a comparatively high interest rate, you can explore the option of changing the lender if you have maintained a good track record of the repayment. Tax calculations can change the view on pre-payment. You can also use a calculator to check whether it makes sense to change the lender at (http://www.apna-loan.com/loan-advice-india/transfer-existing-loan-calcul…). You may want to consider the prepayment charges payable to the existing lender and the processing fee to the new lender.

With the government talking tough and the regulator’s deadline to comply with its directive getting nearer, private airlines tonight buckled under pressure and “put on hold” their decision to go on strike on August 18.
In a written statement, the Federation of Indian Airlines said that FIA secretary-general Anil Baijal had been able to impress upon private airlines, including IndiGo, to put on hold their decision to suspend flights on August 18.
Citing “agitated public sentiment”, potential passenger inconvenience and government emphasis on a dialogue, the FIA said “constructive dialogue with Government will lead to redressal of the problems faced by the aviation industry.”
The airlines, set to suffer losses of around Rs 10,000 crore this fiscal, had demanded certain relief measures from government, citing falling passenger traffic and high aviation fuel costs in the country.

Researchers have carried out the study and found that late risers tire less quickly than those who make a point of getting up at the crack of dawn, leading British newspaper the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.
For the latest study, the researchers pitted morning larks against night owls in a task designed to measure their reaction and attention times.
During the experiment, the subjects got up and went to bed at their usual times, with the larks tending to turn in four hours earlier than the owls. Both did similarly well at the task shortly after getting up. But 10 later, it was the night owls that shone, being both quicker and alert at task.

Owning a house is a priority for most of us, but the meltdown has brought a level of apprehension amongst most home seekers. Because of negative market sentiments, people like you and me are either mulling over or delaying our decisions to invest in real estate at present.
A recent report and survey by makaan.com — Me, My Home and Property Rates — informed that metros were now the most attractive investment option when it came to buying properties in India. Mumbai is considered the most sought after location for real estate investments with 30 per cent of the respondents voting for it. Twenty-one per cent would like to own a house in Delhi and about 8 per cent and 5 per cent preferred Bengaluru and Chennai respectively. Cities like Hyderabad, Pune and the likes together attracted 36 per cent of those who wanted to enter the real estate market.
The survey indicates that people are looking for more affordable options — they considered anything below Rs 30 lakh within their means and worth thinking about. Seventy four per cent of those looking to buy property thought that this was a reasonable figure. About 22 per cent of the respondents say they are on the lookout for homes costing between Rs 30 to 60 lakh, though there about 3 per cent who could go in for houses more than Rs 60 lakh but less than Rs 1 crore. Only 2 per cent of the respondents showed an inclination to buy property costing more than Rs 1 crore.
Among the cities, Kolkata leads the demand for affordable homes with 89 per cent of the city’s respondents demanding houses in the sub Rs 30 lakh segment. Hyderabad and Chennai follow Kolkata, with 82 and 74 per cent seekers respectively demanding homes in the sub Rs 30 lakh category. The demand for houses costing between Rs 30-60 lakh is at par in Delhi and Mumbai, with 27 per cent of the respondents in the former and 26 per cent of the respondents in the latter choosing this option.

A Web entertainment company has launched an online videogame called “Trillion Dollar Bailout” which allows players to “slap” or reward CEOs and hand out bags of money to deserving homeowners.
Players of the game, created by AddictingGames.com, are given one trillion play dollars with which to “rescue the US economy before total economic meltdown strikes.”
In the game, homeowners and corporate CEOs pop out of a New York City skyline requesting taxpayer-funded handouts — such as the eight billion dollars requested by “Crysalot Motors.”
Players can either hand out money by clicking on a money bag icon or give the person requesting a bailout a slap by clicking on an icon which looks like a hand.
The player’s actions are charted on a graph and determine whether the economy is “saved” or “tanks.”
The game’s creators urge players to “punish greedy fat cats and save honest people” and “put the hurt on dudes in suits!”

Pop singer Mariah Carey is not discouraged by the recession and is splurging on furniture – she spent over $200,000 as she shopped at the hip Melrose Avenue.
Contactmusic.com reports that she and her entourage closed down Kreiss Showrooms at the well-known Los Angeles street Melrose Avenue so that she and her husband Nick Cannon could shop undisturbed. She was accompanied by Kenneth Bordewick, who is an interior designer and is helping Carey picking up furniture pieces for her Los Angeles home.
“It was like a raid – the shop was closed down and her huge minders stood guard at the door. Mariah clearly knew what she wanted, but took her time making sure she got the right matches and designs. She has terrific taste,”
